Folk Tale about Water

Koala eating gum leaves Koobor the drought-maker.


Boy has no family to give him water
1.
Koobor had no family to give him water ....

Bow steals water buckets
2.
.... or take him hunting for food.

Boy takes buckets up the tree
3.
So Koobor took all
the water buckets.

Tree magically grows
4.
Koobor chanted magic to make the tree grow.

Villagers come home and are angy
5.
When the people returned they were angry and threw boomerangs.

 

Boy falls from tree and changes into a koala
6.
As Koobor's broken
body hit the ground
he turned into a koala.

Koala eating gum leaves and never drinking water
7.
Never hurt a koala or
there will be a drought.

From that day to this, koalas never drink. They only eat gum leaves.

Creating the folk tale pictures


Children drew the pictures using the whole screen.


Many children were working at once - they did not always draw the same shapes for trees and people but they tried to make them match.


The pictures were then cropped or shrunk.
