Otjiekoto-lake is in Namibia

Otjiekoto-lake is in Namibia. It is a very big hole that lies between Tsumeb and Etosha Pan. It is filled with water and drops over 200 feet on the one side and on the other side it drops to over 600 feet. It was discovered by Francis Galton in 1851. The actual pump which looks like this:

This actual pump does not work today but there is another pump still pumping to Tsumeb which provides them with fresh water for their farming and fresh water. Otjiekoto Lake is measured at 820 feet and 650 feet. The Otjiekoto Pump is made of metal and bricks. There was ounce a war that surrounded the lake against the German's and Britains. The German Soldier didn't want the British to take their quantities so he ordered his soldiers to throw their quantities (armour) into the lake. But the British won because they kept all their armour and the German Soldier got pulled into the lake with the canon. Today Tsumeb is a small happy town that gets fresh water. I have a friend called pierce who lives in Tsumeb but works in the bungalows we stayed in so we gave him a lift to his hometown to see his brother with Maleria in hospital. These people are the most thankful people you have ever met. We had to go buy our meat from a little shop and they are the jolliest peolple. They have lots of water and I love them. That's another town in Africa.

I love Africa and all of it's wonderful places like Tsumeb.
