We are about to tell you about a story that we hope will make everyone save water. There is a river called the Liesbeek River in Cape Town that runs from Table Mountain to the Black river, which runs into the sea.
กก The story of the Liesbeek
The Liesbeek River is home to many animals including fish, terrapins and frogs but part of the river has been canalised so you do not see many animals any more in the Liesbeek.
Recently an organisation called The Friends of the Liesbeek got together to clean the river. They employ people from a very poor area called Mitchell's Plain who remove the pollution. The Friends raise their own money to employ these people. It is extremely wonderful that they are cleaning the river and employing people.
