In Poland, Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday when the moon is full. Easter is followed by forty days' time Lent. During the Lent, the Catholics do not take part in any festivals, parties. On Friday,people do not eat meat. On Big Saturday, we consecrate food in church (coloured eggs, sausages, bread, salt and pepper). At twilight, we go to church, it is the beginning of Easter. At dawn, on Sunday we go to Church, again. After that, we consume Easter breakfast. In our region, traditonal Easter dishes are:
- coloured eggs,
- borsh,
- saussage,
- Easter mud pie cake,
- frosted cake (traditionally eaten at Easter)
- herrings.
Easter traditons are:
- breaking an egg during Easter breakfast,
- breaking eggs,
- on Monday morning, men pour water into women.
Easter Mud Pie Cake ( baba wielkanocna )
Ingredients: ( składniki )
4 eggs, 2 glasses of sugar, 4 glasses of flour, 1 glass of potato flour, 1 bar of butter, 1 baked powder, 1 vanillia powder, 1 vanillia oil, 2 spoons of cacao, 1 glass of cream, chocolate icing.
How to do it? ( jak to sporządzić? )
First, break eggs and divide them into jolks and the whites. Then, mix the white parts of the eggs and add some sugar. Put it away. Next, take the jolks and mix them with one bar of butter and add 2 glasses of flour, next add cream and potato flour. Then add cream and the white parts of eggs mixture. Add the rest of flour, vanillia powder and baked powder. Mix all mixture very carefully for , at least, 15 minutes. Finally, you can add two spoons of cacao and mix for five minutes. Put the mixture into the oven and bake for 45 minutes.
