China Celebration 2004
On January 30, Wilcox F had their China Celebration. A big mahalo to all the parents for helping out and the Tams for arranging a visit from Au's Shaolin Arts Society to perform the Lion Dance. Here is a close up of the Lion's head.
Seng Au, "Sifu Au", of this club is explaining some of the highlights of the Lion's head.
Sifu Au's daughter, Anne, is performing a kata for Wilcox F.
Then the Kung Fu members performed the Lion Dance. On the right, the children of Wilcox F are giving the Lion "Lai See", Chinese red money packets.
After the performance, we had three learning activities. Tiffany's mom is making fried noodles, yummy!
The children also made their own "Lai See" packets with Evan and Ariana's mothers.
The Wilcox F "Global Kids" then had the opportunity to try out some Chinese calligraphy.
Some happy children at our celebration, and of course some Chinese culinary delights to end our very successful educational event.
"Gong Xi Fa Cai" means Happy New Year in Mandarin Chinese. A prosperous and healthy year to all!
