This is one of tree ferns (called"Wheki Ponga").
The fern leaf is New Zealand's floral emblem and comes from the "silver tree fern",also known by its Maori name, Ponga.
Many New Zealanders take our precious tree ferns for granted and cut down these botanical treasures in order to make plant pots or fence posts. Tree ferns, like all native plants and trees, are protected by low when they grow on Crown land and must never be removed from their natural habitatas.![]()
This is one of native ferns(called "Crepe Fern").
Itis also known as Prince of Wales feathers.
It can be found in moist cool habitats throughout New Zealand, and it also likes locations where it is quite dark.![]()
