THEN AND NOW PROJECT What was school like in the 1940’s?KEY Q=question M=me A=answer SCHOOL Question 1 How big was the school? A: It was pretty small. It was kindergarten through 8th grade. I walked about a mile to school then since they did not have busses. Question 2 How many kids did you have in your class? A: I had 24 kids in my class and the room was a size of two bedrooms.Question 3 Did you have special classes?A: No we did every thing in the same class. We had now P.E. or music, we only had arts and crafts. We did that in the same room. Question 4 Did you have a lot of homework?A: Yes I had a lot of homework because I went to a catholic school.Question 5 Did you have recess?A: Yes I had recess. Twice a day in the morning at 10:00 and 2:00 O’clock. Question 6 Did you have a cafeteria? A: No we did not have a cafeteria we had to bring our lunches and eat in our classroom.Question 7 Do you have a nurse’s office?A: Yes we had a nurses office. She was very nice. Question 8 Did you enjoy school?A: Yes I enjoyed school it was wonderful. The teachers were not that mean.
