1.Did you go to the doctor often?
No, as a little boy I only went 2-3 times. You only went if you had a bad 104-105 degree fever.
2.What did you do if you had a 104-105 degree fever?
Since there was no such thing as antibiotics in the 30¡Çs the doctor prescribed you sulfur drugs.
3. What did you do if you had a cold or small fever?
My parents were big believers in Vick¡Çs Vapor Rub. We also used to do something called cupping.
4. Did you ever have a friend die of a now curable disease?
I had a childhood friend almost die of pneumonia which you now get a shot for.
5. Did they have any natural cures in the 30¡Çs?
They used to attach leeches to you to get out the ¡Èbad blood¡É. It was really gross.
6.What modern medicine most amazes you?
Antibiotics, in a few days you¡Çre almost cured. Sulfur drugs were so slow in comparison.
