Yesterday and Today way back in the 1930's
In the 1930¡Çs is about when my grandmother was growing up. However, it was in France!
· School began at eight o¡Çclock in the morning.
· School ended at four o¡Çclock
· Her subjects were Gym, Writing, French (grammar) Dictation, Math, Geography, History
· Lots of homework every night for all subjects!
· She had to wear a uniform
· Ate at school· She didn¡Çt walk to school, lived at school
· She had about 12-15 kids in her class when she was about eleven
· No boys in her class
· She had all woman teachers (they were nouns, but the government wouldn¡Çt let them dress like nouns, so they dressed normally)
· She had a principal, who was called a director or priest
· Her favorite subject was writing (in writing the very first thing they learned was to do cursive, and they never learned how to print)
· She didn¡Çt have any kind of pledge to say in the morningIn the 1930¡Çs is about when my grandfather was growing up. He like us grew up in America.
· School began at nine o¡Çclock in the morning
· School ended at three o¡Çclock
· His subjects were gym, writing, math, geography, history, penmanship, science
· He said he had enough homework, every night it covered about one or two subjects. However, over the course of a week they covered all of the subjects in homework.
· He didn¡Çt have a real uniform- however all the boys had to wear a tie with shirt, but it could be any tie and shirt. The girls had to wear a skirt and blouse, but it could be any skirt and blouse
· He went home for lunch (walked home) and had an hour before he had to go back to school· He had about 30 kids in his class
