School In 1933
What were some rules? My Grandma was not allowed to wear nail polish to school. We are now. The girls had to only wear dresses. I can wear whatever I want.
What were the specials like? She had the regular like gym and art. Also, she had music but she had to listen to classical music on a record player and had to tell who was playing it. My Grandma had a class, only for girls, in which she had to cook and bake food, learn the right way to set the table and did sewing. Boys went to shop class to learn how to make things out of wood ect..
How did you get to school? She walked to school because there were no school buses. She didn¡Çt have a backpack but a school bag. My Grandma¡Çs sister and her went home for lunch. There was no cafeteria.Did you have any special events?Sometimes there were spelling bees. The winners received small educational gifts like a pencil. Once a week they had a banking day and everyone brought in change to deposit. They kept records of it in a Bank Book. That was the way they learned to save money.
