Every morning, kids would have to walk to school because they did not have buses. My dad would usually have to walk 1-2 miles and my mom would have to walk 2-3 miles. Sometimes, my mom would come across a snake while walking! When they arrive at school, every morning they would have to go outside and do morning exercises and eye exercises. The purpose of the eye exercises is to prevent near-sightedness. What if the kids don’t finish homework? If the kids don’t finish homework, they would have to either make it up later or stand outside the classroom and do it. What were the schools like? The schools’ wall and floor were cement. They never had lockers. Even in middle school! Did they have the same kind of desks as we do? No. Their desks were bigger and there were usually two people at a desk. They had drawers on the side of the desks. How many kids were in a class? There were about 50 – 60 students in a class. They have 30 – 40 now! That’s still a lot! How did they have lunch? They went home for lunch. Usually lunch was 1 hour – 2 hours. What specials did they have? They had art, music and gym. They had gym every day.
