Past To Present
Zoe Rabinowitz Topic 2Past to PresentYou might think that school was way different ¡Èback then¡É then it is now. That there is nothing the same. Well¡Ä You¡Çre kind of right, but there¡Çs more in common then you might think. I interviewed my grandma to find out what school was like for her.
When she was in school everyone had to do things altogether, everyone had to be on the same page and do the EXACT same thing. She said that she thought Reading and English were fairly easy, but math was hard. All her teachers were very strict and it didn¡Çt help that her biggest problem was keeping her mouth shut. Must run in the family:)
When she went to school she had to wear a skirt or dress and blouses. The boys had to wear ties and scarves and at assemblies they had to wear school colors. Her day was a lot like ours She got up, got dressed had breakfast and went to school. A lot like our day. When lunch came around all the kids would go home for lunch and if you couldn¡Çt go home you had to sit in the classroom alone with only the teacher at her desk grading papers. You couldn¡Çt make a sound or do anything besides eat. You can see why most people went home for lunch. They had recess like the kindergartens through 5th graders do. They would go into the yard and play games until the whistle blew and then they would have to be in a perfectly straight line or else get in a lot of trouble. They got homework like us as well.
Peer Pressure------------------------------------When my grandma grew up she became a teacher. She taught a lot of kids and throughout her life she noticed that the hardest problem for kids from when she was a kid, when she was teaching and now was and is that everyone was worried about what other people thought about them. Worrying about if people liked them or not.
