School House Rock

My grandma¡Çs school is very different than our school now. My grandma¡Çs school was very small. It only had four rooms out of the whole school. The teachers there were very strict. If you had forgotten your homework you may have had to write on the board 100 times ¡ÈI will not forget my homework.¡É Even if you had to stay after school to finish it. Also the people who lived close to the school had to walk to school. From Jr. High up she would take a bus because she and lived farther away from school. She lived an hour away from school.

Did you know that the kids who toke the bus home couldn¡Çt do any after school sports. When my grandma was in Jr. High that school was much bigger than elementary school. It had about 18 rooms. It also had 2 floors. Which was very cool Back then. Believe it or not but they had lockers back then. But no backpacks. They had to carry their books. Sometimes they would put a belt around their books to make it easier to carry.

My grandma¡Çs class would take field trips to many places. The farthest place they went was to New York. Now some school¡Çs go to like Washington. Also they didn¡Çt have computers. You were lucky if you got a typewriter. And of cures they had had pencils and paper. They didn¡Çt have any pens or ink. Amazingly they had yearbooks and lockers.

When my grandma graduated her class consisted of 375 students. That was the largest class that year. (1950). Her graduation class was the first to graduate from the Kline Memorial. So thats what my grandma 's school's were like back then.
