In sickness and in health
Ø Back when my mom was my age there were many differences in the way that sicknesses and diseases
Ø Were prevented, treated, and, cured.
Ø Many medicines, vaccines, treatments and even diseases weren¡Çt known yet.
Ø A lot of medicines have been changed and improved over the past 30 or 50 years.
Ø 29 years ago fevers were treated with aspirin
Ø now we can get acetaminophen or idprophen
Ø 10 to 15 antibiotics was needed for infections
Ø we can get 5 day antibiotics
Ø Vaccines such as polio and small pox were around when my mom was born
Ø We have vaccines that protect us from diseases like A.I.D.S. and chicken pox
Ø 29 years ago my mom only had an X-ray now we have M.R.Is and CAT scans.
Ø When my mom went to dentist she could only get silver filings and metal braces
Ø Now we can get white filings and plastic removable braces
Ø We are also lucky because we have clear sealants to protect our teeth from cavities
