Dr. King Cultural Food Sharing Celebration 2003
To celebrate the birthday and life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Wilcox F has a cultural food sharing celebration. Each child brings in a food dish that represents their ethnic background. The children address the group and explain their ethnic background and the food that they have brought in to share with the class. Not only was this a wonderful opportunity for the children to speak in front of a group of people, share their culture, but it was yummy for the tummy. A great time was had by all! Here are some of the flags that the children made of their various cultural heritages. It is great to live in Hawaii!
This is Mrs. Faatea, our teaching assistant. she is Samoan, and she brought taro.
Melissa is Malaysian and she brought in a coconut dessert.
Now it is time to try all the different and delicious foods.
