ZOUNGBODJI memorial The slaves who died there or who were too tired to travel were thrown in mass grave. Today this memorial marks the place. The survivors would carry on to the next stop. They would turn three times around the tree of Return, in hope of comming back in spirit, the ultimate ritual before their departure at the Door of No Return.
