Aim

  • To enable students to envisage the life of their relatives in the past.

  • To encourage students to find out why their relatives moved from one country to another or from one part of their country to another.

  • To find out what happened to their relatives during their migration experiences and what were the places like that they travelled through.

Note :

This project can be used in the classroom as a topic in its own right particularly in History or Human Society courses but could also be used in conjunction with the "Moving House" project to help involve the students in envisaging the challenges of migration.

Method :

Where have my family lived?

Students will use the Online Page Creator to send photos, pictures and reports about their research.  We will encourage students to make contact with people currently living in the countries their families came from.

Reports of successful contacts with people in their family's country of origin will be valued as entries in this project.

If teachers organise any activities to feature the multicultural nature of the families represented in their classes, it would be great to send in a report of those activities to share with other participants and to inspire other classes to do similar activities.
