Aim

  • To encourage students to look at what happened in the past but also to examine what influence this event or invention had on the history of their own country or the whole world.

  • To encourage discussion so that students realise there are many possible points of view.

  • To help students realise that events from their own country will interest students in other countries and that, in fact, their histories intertwine.

The contributor enters - Time, Location, Topic, Event, Result.

  • Time - either a year within the range 1900-2000 or a decade within that range

  • Location - might be a country name (but remember country borders have changed a lot during 20th Century)

  • Topic - this will be things like transport, communications, migration, political changes, natural disasters (earthquakes, storms, volcanoes etc)

  • Event - description of what happened

  • Result - contributor and/or others give opinions about how that event influenced subsequent events. It would be good to have more than one opinion about each event to illustrate that there is no one "correct" answer.
