Maunawili Falls Hike 2001

Almost a year ago, the coordinators of "Earth In Motion" met in Hawaii for a workshop. The first to arrive was Lynne Ralph, our technology wizard, from New Zealand. Lynne and I went on this hike together to view the beauty of Hawaii. This year Larissa, Lynne's daughter, is visiting a friend in Hawaii who she had met in New Zealand. Taimane used to be a student of mine in kindergarten seven years ago.

Larissa, Taimane, Sachie, my daughter, and Faye, my wife, prepare to start on the hike.

We had to climb many hills and walk many steps. We were getting close to the falls and everyone's spirit became more positive.

Here is a picture of the falls and Larissa and Sachie are getting into the cold water.

After a hardy 16 mile hike we had lunch at a local restaurant. Larissa ordered french fries while Taimane had hash browns!! Amazing!! Larissa said, like her mother stated previously, "Hawaii is so much more beautiful than New Zealand. All we have are kiwis and sheep." :-) :-) :-)
