The Crane Wife

Once upon a time a poor Japanese sailmaker, Osamu, lived alone in a house on a mountain. He could watch the white cranes by the sea |
One day a storm came on and Osamu found a crane in front of his house. |

|
| He took the crane inside and took care of it until it could fly again. | Later a young woman,Yukiko knocked on the door and Osamu invited her in. |
|
|
|
| In time they became husband and wife but they were very poor | In order to get some money Yukiko did a magic sail behind a curtain but she asked Osamu never to look into the weaving room when she was weaving. |

Yukiko weaved the wind inside the wonderful sail and they got a lot of gold. |
After a while they were poor again and Osamu asked Yukiko to weave again. She didn't want to do it and cried. |

A rich captain wanted the magic sail and they needed the gold. Yukiko weaved again. Osamu was curious and he looked behind the curtain to find his wife being the crane. As he broke the promise the crane flew away
