This is a Story About My Grandpa
By Jeff Hamm

Grandpa, I hope you like my story. I love
you very much. Thank you for answering my
questions.

My grandpa remembers yelling and screaming when
someone changed his diaper. A bear also chased my
grandpa's mom when she was pregnant with my
grandpa. The bear came in one side of the tent
and his mom out the other. I think that was more
scary than funny.

In grade 2 there was a breakout of caterpillars
where he lived. He had to walk 2 km to school in
bare feet. The caterpillars would squish up
between his toes. I guess he didn't need any
lunch! He had a funny bathroom experience. He
had to go to the bathroom but his teacher wouldn't
let him. He knew that was a bad decision. I think
that was very funny.

My grandpa's favorite subject besides recess was
math. He would answer math questions from the
higher grades in his class.

The chore my grandpa didn't like to do most was
washing clothes.First, they had to bring in water,
put the water on the woodstove and get wood for
the stove. Then when the water was heated up they
would pour the hot water into the washing tub.
Then grandpa and his brother would take turns
pushing and pulling the washing tub handle for
20 minutes per load. I don't think my brother
would like to do that.

Grandpa and his friends used to play hide and seek
together in the dark and spooky night. He also
liked to listen to stories from his dad and make
toys and play in the garden. They also liked to
listen to the radio.

In grade seven, Grandpa had to leave without his
dog when they moved. He was sad. I would be sad,
too.

Grandpa doesn't like to see kids play a lot of
computer or Sony games.

When Grandpa was a child in World War II they had
coupons so they could buy meat, sugar and other
foods. They would trade their meat coupons for
sugar coupons or other coupons.Especially, if his
dad had hunted a moose or a deer.

My Grandpa's advice is when you are six, enjoy
being six. When you are eight, enjoy being eight.
My Grandpa doesn't think he would do anything
differently. He thinks its best to live without
regrets.

He gets disturbed when he sees injustice and
fighting.

He likes going to Hawaii. He also likes the
stars and northern lights.
