Jessee's Grandmother Gloria

I want to thank Grandma Gloria and Grandma
Marjorie for telling me their stories and for
answering all my questions. I really had a
wonderful time with both of you. I love you both.
I am so glad that our class is doing Generation
Connect. My name is Jessee. My Grandma's names
are Marjorie and Gloria. I asked my grandmothers
questions and these are their answers. I hope you
enjoy reading them.

What was your saddest experience?

My mother's mom, (your great grandma) passed away.
It was my first funeral. I was ten years old.

What are the things you see happening around you
don't like?

I do not like young children smoking, fighting,
not respecting parents and other people's
properties.

What war experiences did you have?

The soldiers had to use two fingered mitts so they
could use their guns at war. My mother used to
knit thick gray two fingered mitts. They were
shipped away. Also us children at school made
little white cotton pull string bags with a Red
Cross on the front of it. In the bag we put a face
cloth, bar of soap, toothbrush, toothpaste and
also a chocolate bar. These Red Cross bags were
then sent to the children whose country was at
war.

What is one thing that you would do differently?

I would finish my education and take my nursing
training.

What things make you angry?

The news about war and all the bad things that are
happening in the other countries, people children
who are starving in our country, unfit parents,
murders, etc. people misusing Government programs,
lazy people who don't work, all these things make me
angry.

What gives you joy?

I get joy from Christmas, birth of a grandchild, weddings,
families getting along and not fighting, and phone calls
from my grandchildren.

What advice can you give us?

Take care of your mind as well as you health.
Do unto others as you wold have them do to you.
Know the 10 Commandments when you are old enough
to understand.
There should have been 20 Commandments.
Respect one another, now matter what age, race or
religion.
Do not always follow another person, they may get
you into trouble.
Think for yourself and love yourself.
Be yourself.
Live a clean and happy life.
Respect all people and sometimes one has to earn
respect.
Don't waste sunrises and sunsets.
Enjoy nature and the GOOD things around you and
appreciate all God's creation.

I had an awesome time with my Grandma Gloria.
I love you very much, Grandma. Love, Jessee
