Peace Monuments in Hiroshima

August 6 is the day when an atomic bomb was
dropped on Hiroshima. After another atomic
bomb attack on Nagasaki, the World War II
was over on August 15, 1945. This war began
with the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in
Hawaii by the Japanese army in 1941.
We have studied the fact that the Japanese
army commited atrocities in some Asian
countries at war.
Lots of children and students had a peace
meeting at school today never to forget the
cruelty of wars and atomic bombs. We sweared
to make efforts to keep peace.
We now enjoy a peaceful life every day in
Japan. LABO senior students thought about
peace.

What is Peace?
* Everyone lives in comfort. (Chie - 4th grade)
* There is no wars. Nobody goes to war.
We are not at war. (Natsuki - 5th grade,
  Maiko - 6th grade, Asuka - 7th grade,
  Akiko & Sota - 8th grade)
* A comfort town to live in (Rie - 5th grade)
* No struggles (Yuki - 8th grade)
* Human being is calm and gentle. (Sota - 8th grade)
* We can live without fear. (Hiroshi - 10th grade)

We would like to know everybody's opinion
about peace.
