Shadow the cheetah is looked after by a few people who live on a wine farm called Spier. Shadow was born in 1996. You can visit two websites and see lovely pictures. The URLs are

Yes there are wild cheetahs and elephants in South Africa. There are no wild gorillas in South Africa but they do live in other parts of Africa.

We get baboons in Cape Town, they are a like monkeys. We have many wild baboons but they are not really afraid of people. They live in the forest and on the mountain. On our outing on Monday to see Shadow a baboon stole a packet of food from a lady. Baboons are cheeky and are always looking for food to eat. Baboons have very big sharp teeth and can be aggressive. Baboons are good at climbing and they have long arms. They carry their babies on their backs or under their tummies. We saw many babies with their mothers on our outing.

Yes we do have cranes in our country. The Blue Crane is the national bird of South Africa. It isn't really blue it is a grey colour. There is a picture of it on our 5 cent coin. The Blue Crane has a big head, a long beak and long legs too. Its wing feathers trail on the ground. It is 120cm tall.
