Return to Earth In Motion

Dipper the Penguin comes from South Africa and is due to leave for Japan soon. Doraemon & Minidora are two travel buddies LABO students are sending from Japan to South Africa.

Introduction from Micklefield School, SA

To our friends in Japan,

We are sending you Dipper the penguin. He does not look like the penguins we get in Cape Town. Dipper is a King penguin and we have African penguins (Jackass penguins) but we couldn't find a Jackass penguin to send you. Squeeze the penguin to hear the sounds that penguins make. Dipper cannot fly and he likes to live near the water. His favourite food is fresh fish.

We hope you enjoy having Dipper to stay. We will look after Doraemon carefully.

Goodbye

Love from,

2nd Grade, teacher Halinka Przybojewski, and Computer Co-ordinator Margaret Dugmore

Introduction from LABO Students, Japan

Dear Grade 2 students at Micklefield School,

This is the first time we have a travel buddy from abroad, and so we are excited to have Dipper from South Africa!! We look forward to Dipper's arrival and we promise to take care of him very well.

Doraemon and Minidora are our first travel buddies. Doraemon is a very popular character from a Japanese comic "DORAEMON". He is a robot in the shape of a cat, but has no ears because mice nibbled the ears off!! He once was yellow, but as he was so terrible when bitten by mice that he became blue. He kept crying and his voice became hoarse. Since then, he is scared of mice. He came to a boy named "Nobita" and has lived with his family. Nobita is an ordinary boy. He is not strong, and his marks at school are not good. DORAEMON is very popular because in the comics, Doraemon helps Nobita and realises Nobita's dreams by using various tools. Minidora is usually in Doraemon's pocket, and comes out when he helps Doraemon.

We hope you like Doraemon and Minidora. We would like to know their life in your country!!

Love from,

LABO Torigoe Party Junior Group and TORIGOE Yuko, Tutor
