On Saturday, July 20, 2002, while in
Northern Thailand, near Chiang Mai, we
headed to the Mae Sa Elephant Camp. This
was tourism at its best and worst, but I
must confess that I now can say that I
have ridden an elephant, which not many
people can lay claim to.

This is the boarding area to the
elephants. Fortunately, there is a bar in
the front of the seat, that locks one in.

If one looks
carefully, you
will see me on
the first
elephant.

The "bahoots",
trainers, work
with the
elephants since
birth. Washing
the elephants
can be fun to
watch.

A great close up of an elephant.

Do you know the difference between and
African and Indian elephant?
