Kim Chee Factory, Honolulu, Hawaii

On Wednesday, February 28, the kindergarten class of Wilcox F, Punahou School visited a local kim chee factory. Due to Hawaii's multi-cultural society, kim chee is enjoyed by many people in Hawaii. Kim Chee is a staple food for Koreans. As our class has been studying about Korea, this field trip was very meaningful.

To enter the factory we all had to wear hair nets. Who wants hair in one's kim chee?

Here are some of the workers cutting up the cabbage. They do it very quickly.

Here are the vats that the vegetables are fermented in.

The workers are placing the kim chee in big containers.

The final packaging of the kim chee. The owner gave each child a bottle of kim chee!!
