Recycling Building Materials

You can see mounds of building materials in the front and mounds of crushed materials at
the back ready to be sold for landscaping.
Kimbriki Recycling Centre has a very good record for recycling building
materials since 1990. The trouble is, their record is so good that other
parts of Sydney have closed their dumping grounds and are sending their
building materials to Kimbriki and they are trying to cope with a very
much greater load now than a year ago.

Old lumps of concrete get crushed into grey gravel, and old roof tiles get
crushed into red gravel. These gravels get sold for landscaping.

This is the EcoGarden at Kimbriki Rd Recycling Centre and in the
foreground you can see some red gravel, some grey gravel and the path
which is made of recycled bricks. The place where the EcoGarden has
been built was landfill rubbish dump until November 1998. Here you see
it in June 1999.
