How The Echidna Got His Spikes.

Once upon a time there lived an echidna and a big gum tree. The gum tree was the only tree there and the only thing the animals got their food from. One day there was only a little food left so the echidna picked up the tree and ran off with it. A little h later the animals saw the echidna running with the tree.

So all the animals got their spears and ran after the echidna. Then they threw their spears and all the spears fell on the echidna's back.

The echidna dropped the tree and fell on his back and the he felt the spears poking into his back. That's why you see echidnas with spikes.
