In Britain benches are normally brown wood with 
metal legs. Benches are nailed to the ground 
because people tend to steal them.

They are situated on streets, near shops, in 
parks and in bus-stops.  Sometimes they are 
donated and you can see a plaque on them giving
the name of the donor.
