Preparing Sound Files


Basic hardware required:

To record sound you will need a sound card and microphone for your computer.

If you wish to convert an audio cassette recording, you will need a suitable sound system and connecting leads. Consult your local computer or sound system specialist.

 

Software:

To convert sound to a Real Audio file you can download free software from the Real Media Web Site. What you use will depend on whether you have a Mac or PC.

Scroll down the Real Tool Index Page until you find the text (below) and make your selection - Mac or PC.

For PC users:  Download Real Producer G2

For Mac users:   Download Real Encoder G2, version 3.1 or 5.1 (depending on your model of Mac)

Instruction files are available as well.

 

Using Real Producer and Real Encoder G2

These programmes allow you to record directly from a media device (microphone, attached CD player etc) or from a sound file already on your computer. The Programmes are well designed and user friendly.

 

Listening to Sound Files on Earth Calendar

You will need to download and install Real Player G2.
